Even though our every hour is booked with things to do with the wedding, we had to take some time and hit the road! My cousin Annalece is performing this summer in the play "The Unsinkable Molly Brown" at the Playhouse in Jackson Hole and we decided to pay her a visit. We drove up through Provo canyon and through Cheyenne Wyoming, which is where I had my first good laugh of the trip. I don't want to embarrass my fiance, but I do want to remember the moment, so right here it will suffice to say "Is she gonna be a star?" From Cheyenne we took the long drive through absolute nothing. And let me emphasize NOTHING. And in the middle of that nothing I looked over and realized that our gas tank was drips away from being completely empty. We were driving through a canyon, it was pitch black, in the middle of nowhere, and we were almost on empty. We were seriously holding our breathe, wondering what we would do if we were to break down. Luckily we turned a bend, saw city lights and blew a sigh of relief. We then rolled into Rulon Gardner's shrine-to-himself gas station in his home town of Afton Wyoming. By t
he time we got to Jackson it was like midnight and pitch black. We decided to save our money this trip and camp instead of staying in a hotel. We had no idea where any campsites were, so we basically roamed the city until we found a site. We kind of snuck in trying to be as quiet as possible so we wouldn't get caught and put our tent up in the dark, if you can believe it. We caught up with my Aunt Sue and the fam the next day. They were so great to us, showing us around and letting us tag along on their family excursions. We went to lunch at a little cafe place across the street from the Playhouse and had the best time exploring the good old outdoors. We took this ferry across a lake a little outside of Jackson and went hiking up to a waterfall. It was so beautiful and so much fun to spend time with the Boothes. L
ater that night we got to see Annalece put on her little performance as Molly Brown and she did a great job. It was so weird to see her in a role that was so different than her regular personality, but it was so much fun! And just look at how cute she looks! That night we went to dinner and got done when it was dark. So again we had to find a campsite in the pitch dark. We went a bit outside Jackson and found a whole slew of camp sites. It just turns out that we picked the one in which we weren't supposed to camp and at 7:00 am the next morning we were warned by a yelling man outside our tent that the ranger would be here soon to give us a ticket for camping in a spot where they were trying to re-grow grass and was restricted! So we bailed and got on the road a little early. It turned out to be a really fun vacation and I didn't want to go home!
