The Big 5-0
My daddy-o has hit the big milestone. On June 26 he just turned 50! I guess he kinda had to see it coming, considering he has a married daughter, another daughter a year from graduating college, and his youngest son just graduated from high school. However, he did say that turning 50 really makes you feel old! It was fun celebrating as a family when we went to One Man Band for breakfast on Saturday morning. I can't help it, I like that place - juke box and all. I also think that mine and Doug's birthday present this year made him feel even older. Since he's difficult to shop for, and usually gives his gifts away, we thought we would buy him something he could really use, instead of something he might just want. So we decided to start the tradition of adding to his emergency preparedness and food storage every year on his birthday. However, we did add in a pie, so the gift wasn't too boring! Although he has reached 50, he's still a kid at heart. Anyone who knows my dad knows he is the first to start food fights, crack jokes, and play games with the kids. In fact, just this past Sunday while celebrating his birthday at my Aunt Diane's he joined in on a game of duck, duck, goose. But again he was reminded of his age when he was the "goose" chasing (rather quickly, I might add!) Creed and took a big old spill on the lawn. It gave us all a pretty good laugh. Happy Birthday Dad!
