Celebrate, celebrate, come on and celebrate!

When I began my new job I was told that the current receptionist was going to be fired, although they didn't know when and she wasn't aware of her fate. Well, from the first day she felt totally threatened by me, thinking I was taking over her job. In fact, I had been brought in to handle the bookkeeping, and someone else would fill the job of receptionist/office manager, so I wasn't taking over her job. To get right to the point, this woman was terrible to me. She was so conniving and outright mean. And apparently it wasn't just me either – she was a very difficult person to get a long with and every employee had issues with her. I overheard her talking (well, screaming) about me to her manager (the CFO who actually hired me – go figure). Everyday when I would get home from work Doug would get an earful of the wicked things she had done and how much I disliked this woman. Every day I thought about quitting. Now I know there will always be difficult situations and people in the work place, but no one should have to feel this way when they go to work. So it was only appropriate to have a celebration when she was fired! I will probably be struck by lightning for saying that, but I couldn't have been happier when she was finally let go for stealing money from the company. I called Doug all excited and he met me at Tucano's for a celebration feast. Something I haven't said for a while…I am actually excited to go to work tomorrow!
